Study in Gold Coast

The paradise of the surfers with more than 60 km of coastline, is usually the destination of all those who need to live in a relaxed and quiet city with a beach.

This has been the main reason why it has gone from being, a rather unknown area, to have 650,000 inhabitants. It is also often the destination of Brisbane’s neighbours since the distance is reasonable enough to spend a couple of hours at the wheel to enjoy a day at the beach.

Of the little beaches that say that they are not “dreamy”, considering that the most famous one receives the name of Surfers Paradise, imagine! But if surfing is not your thing (yet) do not worry; With an average water temperature of 22 degrees, you can enjoy the sea even just for a swim. If the water is warm, the weather could not be different.

Life in Gold Coast

You will enjoy a humid subtropical climate in which practically the whole year is stable except for the typical summer storms.

As we said before, in recent years, the city has grown a lot, which probably makes it one of the most cosmopolitan, although it is true that it is preferred by Spanish-speaking and Brazilian students.

Regarding the accommodation prices will oscillate between extremes rather distant and is that the area is so large that depend on how close you are to the most tourist area, ie near the main beach.

The main public transport is the tram, although if you like it more, you can also move by bicycle. In Gold Coast you will find the Ocean Way, which is a 36-kilometer bike path that runs along the entire coast.

In Gold Coast you will find a good job offer throughout the year, especially in the services sector.

Although we have said that the weather is stable, you may encounter peaks. So, do not forget to throw a sweater in the suitcase for the winter and a fan for the summer where it can reach 40 degrees.

Despite its name, Surfers Paradise is not the best destination to get settled if you are looking for waves. Better Burleigh Heads, or Coolangatta, for example.

Just like Brisbane, you’ll need your Go Card to get around, but you may find it cheaper and sometimes more convenient to buy a second-hand bike.
